Anne Karsian

Anne started her working career as an archaeologist, piecing together stories of people and cultures through the artifacts left behind. She has been telling people’s stories ever since. As a social worker, her interest area has focused on medical social work in acute care hospitals, along with years of service as an in-home hospice social worker. In hospitals, Anne has worked in the emergency department serving as an empathetic presence in unsettling situations. She focused on eliciting the bigger storyline to best assist patients, their families, and the medical team. As a hospice social worker, Anne had the privilege of learning each person’s story to help the hospice team serve the “whole person”, not only their medical diagnosis. Anne is passionate about the strength of working on interdisciplinary teams and enjoys adding depth to life stories through listening with curiosity. Working on a defense team as a forensic social worker is a natural extension of what Anne has been doing from many angles throughout her life. Today, Anne lives in Montrose and is available to take cases across the western slope of Colorado.
