Josie Mines

Josie Mines has 20 years of experience working in legal, social and human services settings. She began her career as an immigration and family law attorney representing victims of DV and other violent crimes, advocating and providing legal services in coordination with other social service providers. Josie is an established government grant writer with 12-plus years of experience executing strategic funding and development work for non-profits. Recent professional experience includes working in a clinical/medical healthcare setting, with a focus on grief, crisis intervention, and assessments for family members of those experiencing acute and chronic health issues. She has also worked in child welfare, providing advocacy and support to indigent parents and consulting and coordinating services with a multidisciplinary legal team. Josie earned a bachelors Degree in Journalism from the University of St. Thomas in 2001 and her JD from the University of St. Thomas School of Law in 2004. After working in the legal services and development fields for over 16 years, wanting to combine her passion for advocacy and holistic services for vulnerable populations, she was accepted into CSUs MSW program in 2017. She graduated in 2019, passed the state licensure test, and became a Licensed Social Worker (LSW).
