Inclusivity Attorney Fellowship
We are excited to announce that the Office of Alternate Defense Counsel (OADC) is currently hiring an Inclusivity Attorney Fellow. The fellowship opportunity is the ultimate public-private partnership, whereby the fellow would receive a state employee position for up to two years while they develop their criminal defense skillset and their emerging future businesses and criminal defense practice.

OADC Seeking Greater Colorado and Inclusivity Social Work Fellows
We are excited to announce that The Office of Alternate Defense Counsel (OADC) is currently hiring a Greater Colorado and Inclusivity social work fellow. These fellowships present an opportunity to make a meaningful difference for those committed to criminal defense social work while receiving valuable support from current OADC Social Workers to guide and train you on your journey to start and maintain your own private practice.
The OADC is overseen by a nine-member Commission that meets about three times a year, with one meeting typically held outside the Denver metro area. By statute, this Commission is bipartisan, has both lawyer and nonlawyer members, and must have at least one member from each of Colorado’s eight congressional districts. The Chief Justice of the Colorado Supreme Court appoints members to the Commission, and each term is four years. There will be one opening on the Commission in August 2024 that needs to be filled by a layperson who lives in the new 8th Congressional District. Postconviction Unit Licensed Clinical Social Worker
The Office of the Alternate Defense Counsel (OADC) seeks a dedicated, skilled Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) to join our new Postconviction Unit (PCU). The PCU LCSW will play a vital role on our PCU interdisciplinary defense team, collaborating with the attorneys and other team members to best address the social and legal needs of our clients. This is an exciting opportunity to advance indigent postconviction representation and help shape this new defender unit. The Office of the Municipal Public Defender has been in existence since January 1, 2015, and is overseen by the City's Chief Municipal Public Defender. The creation of this office ensures that the City and County of Denver are on the same level as other progressive municipalities providing quality in-house Public Defense services for indigent citizens in the City and County of Denver. The Office of the Municipal Public Defender of Denver is a holistic, wrap-around public defender office that offers legal representation and connections to behavioral health services through our Client Support Team (CST) for clients who are accused of traffic offenses, municipal ordinance violations, and cases in specialty courts in Denver County. Beginning in July 2024, our office will begin representing youth who are accused of Denver municipal ordinance violations.

The Colorado Division of Criminal Justice is now hiring for the Racial and Ethnic Disparities Coordinator for Juvenile Justice Position.
The Office of Adult and Juvenile Justice Assistance (OAJJA) administers federal and state criminal and juvenile justice funding programs and provides staffing support to the Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Board and the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (JJDP) Council. In addition, OAJJA staff are actively involved in policy initiatives intended to improve the criminal and juvenile justice systems. The Governor-appointed Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (JJDP) Council establishes funding priorities for the funding from the OJJDP and serves in an advisory capacity to the Governor and State legislature as well as state agencies on juvenile justice and delinquency prevention matters. Similar to the JJDP Council, the Governor-appointed Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Board establishes funding priorities for the Justice Assistance Grant and serves in an advisory capacity to the Governor and State legislature as well as state agencies on criminal justice matters.
